The urology specialty deals with illnesses and problems of the female and male urinary tract. The organs that fall under the urology discipline are: the bladder, kidneys, adrenal glands, ureter, urethra, penis, scrotum and prostate.
Urology is further subdivided into functional and oncological urology.
Dysfunction of the urinary tract, such as a hyperactive bladder with or without unintentional loss of urine, plays a role in the first group. Usually patients have to urinate more frequently, even at night. Functional urology also includes bladder voiding dysfunction, where urinating is difficult or impossible and urine remains in the bladder.
The oncological branch of urology treats patients with cancer such as bladder cancer, kidney cancer and prostate cancer.
Eurocept has long-standing expertise in both of these urological areas. A large part of these treatments can be done at home. Together with Eurocept Homecare, Eurocept Pharmaceuticals is equipped to take on this challenge.
